Happy Easter

Here is a little presentation of the Easter story, told with eggs.  Place the representative item in each egg and open them as you read the scriptures that go with them.

  1. Bread crumb: Jesus ate dinner with His friends.

And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.  And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.  Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.  (Luke22:14-15, 19-20)
  2. Leaf: Jesus prayed in a garden.

And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.  And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. (Luke 22:39,41-44)
  3. Lock: Jesus was arrested by evil men.

And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; (Matthew 26:57, 59)
  4. Cross: The next day, Jesus died on the Cross.

Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst. (John 19:16-18)
  5. Strip of cloth: He was wrapped in cloth and placed in a tomb.

Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. (John 19:40)
  6. Rock: A stone was placed in front of the tomb.

And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. (Matthew 27:59-60)
  7. Empty egg: Jesus' friends came to the tomb and saw the stone had been moved. The tomb was empty!

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. (Luke 24:1-3)
  8. Candy: It's sweet to know, Jesus arose.

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. (Matthew 28:5-6)
