Here is a little presentation of the Easter story, told with eggs.  Place the representative item in each egg and open them as you read the scriptures that go with them.

Medium weight yarn. Hook size F.

Row 1:  Foundation Single Crochet 62.

Row 2:  Ch 4, turn work; sk next sc, dc in next sc; (ch 1 dc in next sc) twice;
[ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc] 4 times;
(ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc) 11 times;
[ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc], ch 1, dc in next sc; 
(ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc) 11 times;
[ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc] 4 times;
(ch 1 dc in next sc) twice, (ch 1, sk next sc, dc) twice to end in last sc.

Row 3:  Ch 1, turn work; sc in first st; *(dc, ch 1, dc, ch1, dc) in next dc (shell made), sc in next dc; rep from * across. The last sc will be in the third of the chain 4 of row two.

Join start edges of strip together at the top of the shell using a slip stitch.  Finish off.  Weave in candy canes.

You're Invited

Did you know that August is Happiness Happens month? Did you have a good month? How many days of happiness did you have? Maybe you need some ideas on how to have a good day.

I want to share some resouces and ideas with you that can give you a lift.

The first exercise (oops, do you feel as bad about the word exercise as I do, hmm ...)
OK, the first piece of homework (nope, that doesn't sound exciting does it?)
How about activity or assignment or task or challenge?
None of those sound right either.

Let's try invitation.

Don't you love getting a handwritten invitation in the mail? It usually means something fun or good is about to happen. It's usually a reason to celebrate and be excited. So, let's go with that.

And since we're talking about invitations, why not write up a few for yourself. Invite yourself out to lunch or for a trip to a nice garden or for some other treat. Write them up and put them in sealed envelopes and hide them around your house. Then later, when they come to light again, you'll have a reason to celebrate. This is two-part fun. You get to have fun crafting the invitations and hiding them and fun again when they show up in the future.

Many people love to sing, but when asked what part are unsure or pick the part that has the melody. There are several different vocal ranges. This article discusses how to determine which you might fit into.

Steps

1. The first thing you'll need is a piano or other instrument where you know what the notes are.
   


2. Find the pitch at which you speak and the pitch at which you laugh. These two pitches are good indications of where your voice is most comfortable.
   


3. Using a staccato (short) ha, move up and down the scale to find your highest and lowest note. Make note of where you feel the most comfortable and sing the best. Exaggerated sighing where your voice moves through pitches is also a good way to find how high and low your voice can go.

5. The notes you sing most easily and beautifully are called tessitura. Your working range are the notes where you can comfortablely sing beyond this. The extreme range of a voice is usually only accessible by professionals or those who have been trained.
   


6. The highest voice is a Coloratura. The tessitura is from B above middle C and up the scale to G above high C. Their working range extends from E above middle C to A above high C.
   


7. The next voice is called a Lyric Soprano. The tessitura for this voice is from A above middle C to F above high C. The working range is from D above middle C to G above high C.
   


8. Next we come to the Dramatic Soprano. The tessitura is from G above middle C to E above high C. Their working range extends from middle C up to F above high C.
   


9. Mezzo Soprano is next on the list. The tessitura is from E above middle C to high C. The working range is from B below middle C to E above high C.
   


10. Contraltos are the lowest of the treble voices. Their tessitura is middle C to A above middle C. Their working range is from G below middle C to high C.
    


11. The Lyric Tenor straddles the treble and base clefts. They can sing from A below middle C to F above middle C in the tessitura range. Working ranges are from D below middle C through A above middle C.
    


12. Dramatic Tenors come next. The tessitura is D below middle C up to D above middle C. Working range is low C to F above middle C.
    


13. Baritones have a tessitura from B below low C to G above low C and a working range of A below low C to D above middle C.
    


14. The next lowest voice is the Bass Baritone. The tessitura is from A below low C to F above low C. Working range encompases G below low C to middle C.
    


15. Finally we have the Bass. This voice has a tessitura from G below low C to E above low C. The working range is F below low C up to B below middle C.

Crochet Weave Washcloth

1 ball Sugar & Cream 100% Cotton yarn (makes more than one)
Crochet Hook Size H

1. Chain 32



2. In third chain from hook, double crochet. Continue across. (30 double crochet + chain 2 = 31 double crochet). Chain 2 and turn.



3. In first double crochet, front post double crochet. In next double crochet, back post double crochet. Continue across alternating front post/back post. Chain 2 and turn.



4. Back Post double crochet in first stitch. Front post double crochet in second stitch. Continue alternating back post/front post across. Chain 2 and turn.



5. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have a square shape. (approx 14 more rows in total)



6. Edging: Half double crochet in each space between stitches across top. When you come to the end of the row make 3 half double crochets in the last space between stitches. Turn and continue on the side making 2 half double crochet stitches on each post. Make 3 half double crochets in the corner space. Continue across the bottom and other side as before. Slip stitch in top of first stitch, when you arrive back at the beginning of the edging. Tie off.

Pilgrim Painting

I've had some time to work on some tole painting. These two pilgrims are for Mom's birthday. I've gotten a lot done in the past week. Of course this is just the front and these darlings are two-sided.

Beginning a Bag

I'm making a tote bag with a charm pack. I've laid out the charms the way I want to use them. The top three pictures are pockets and the last two pictures are the sides of the bag.

Mom is Wonderful

I was in FL last week on business. Mom drove me to the airport and picked me up again when I came back. The surprise was that while I was gone she did a little touch-up on my home. She washed my sink dishes and cleaned the sinks themselves. (I noticed the dishes quickly, but only noticed the sink too, like, yesterday!) She also cleaned my shower. I know because I noticed that, ok this is gross but, I noticed that some hair was missing that I was going to throw away when it dried. Then I checked under the shampoo bottles and found out that the tub was cleaned. Wow! That was really nice. She does a lot for me and I don't say thank you enough. I feel a little guilty that she does so much.
